Consultation Notes
The record a provider keeps of what was discussed and done at a visit: formulas, products, preferences, and next steps.
Consultation notes are the running record a stylist, colorist, or esthetician keeps about a client: the exact color formula and developer volume used, the products applied, what the client liked or disliked, sensitivities, and the plan for next time. Where a Client Intake Form captures the baseline once, consultation notes accumulate visit after visit, becoming the memory that lets any provider recreate a great result and avoid repeating a bad one.
Good notes are quietly one of the strongest retention tools a salon has. A client who returns and hears the exact formula from last time recalled without prompting feels known, and that trust is what turns a first visit into a regular. Because retention drives frequency, and frequency drives the ticket count behind Revenue Per Stylist, the salon that documents formulas and preferences protects revenue that a salon relying on a stylist's memory loses the moment that stylist is out sick or leaves.
Notes only pay off when they travel with the client rather than living in one person's head. Storing them in a client CRM alongside history and rebooking and retention prompts means the record survives staff turnover, is available to whoever takes the chair, and can trigger the timely follow-up (a color refresh, a re-book reminder) that keeps the calendar full.
