Front-Desk Conversion
The share of booking-intent contacts (calls, messages, walk-ins) that your front desk actually turns into booked appointments.
Front-desk conversion is the rate at which people who reach out to book, by phone, text, DM, or in person, actually leave with an appointment on the calendar. It is the most overlooked number in a salon because the failures are invisible: a caller who hits voicemail and hangs up, a DM that goes unread until tomorrow, a walk-in turned away with no follow-up. None of them show up in your books, so the leak never appears on a report.
The leak is large. US salons and spas miss about 24% of inbound calls, and 37% of all calls go unanswered, 82% of them during business hours while staff are with clients. Those are not idle callers: roughly 952 million high-intent salon calls are lost every year, and up to 85% of people whose call is not answered never call back. On hold, 52% of spa customers abandon the call after three minutes.
Raising conversion is less about hiring and more about never dropping a contact: Online Booking absorbs demand your desk cannot reach, Missed-Call Text-Back recovers the calls you miss, and an AI Receptionist answers when everyone is busy. See AI front desk and online booking.
