Membership
A recurring paid plan that gives clients ongoing perks in exchange for a predictable monthly fee.
A membership is a recurring subscription where clients pay a set fee (usually monthly) for a bundle of services, discounts, or included visits. It is one of the most powerful retention tools in beauty because it converts an occasional, decision-by-decision relationship into a standing commitment, which stabilizes your revenue and locks in visit frequency. Med spas, blow-dry bars, and wax studios use memberships heavily precisely because the service is repeat by nature.
Memberships attack the two hardest problems at once: they smooth cash flow into predictable recurring income, and they directly raise Client Lifetime Value (CLV) by guaranteeing a cadence of visits. Since the average client otherwise visits only 4.88 times a year against an ideal of 7 to 8, a membership that builds in monthly visits closes much of that gap. And because retention economics are so favorable, with a 5% gain worth 25% to 95% in profit, the recurring commitment a membership creates is worth well beyond its face price.
Memberships sit alongside Package (prepaid bundles without the recurring commitment) and Loyalty Program (rewards without a fee) as ways to formalize the relationship. They lean on billing you can run reliably, so pair them with retail and payments tools and manage member communications and benefits through a client CRM.
