Win-Back
A targeted campaign to bring back clients who have stopped visiting.
A win-back is a deliberate effort to re-engage lapsed clients, the ones who used to come in regularly and then quietly disappeared. Because most salons never formally define when a client has lapsed, these people slip away unnoticed: they are not cancellations or complaints, just gaps in the calendar that never get filled. A win-back campaign identifies them by their visit history and reaches out with a reason to return.
The math favors win-backs heavily. Reactivating a client who already knows and likes you is far cheaper than finding a stranger, since acquisition costs five to 25 times more than retention, and small retention gains produce outsized profit: a 5% improvement can lift profits 25% to 95%. Given that first-visit retention is only 35%, a large pool of one-and-done clients is usually sitting in your database waiting to be re-invited.
Win-backs work best over the channels clients actually watch: 98% of SMS messages get opened versus about 20% of email, and 44% of clients say texting is their preferred way to hear from a self-care business. Run them through email and SMS marketing driven by a client CRM that segments who has gone quiet, and connect the return visit to your Client Retention Rate flywheel.
